HUNTSVILLE – Air carrier GLO will enter the Huntsville market with a non-stop flight from Huntsville to New Orleans’ Louis Armstrong International Airport.

GLO will begin non-stop service on Sept. 30 with $99 one-way fares (taxes, fees and three checked bags included) available for travel through Nov. 7, 2016. Individuals must purchase the introductory fares by Aug. 18, 2016. There is no round-trip requirement.

GLO’s flight schedule timetable for the new route is as follows:

On Wednesday, Friday and Sunday:
* Depart from New Orleans, 1 p.m.
* Arrive in Huntsville, 2:45 p.m.
* Depart from Huntsville, 3:15 p.m.
* Arrive in New Orleans, 5 p.m.

The airline is owned and based in New Orleans. Corporate Flight Management Inc. (CFM) operates GLO.

GLO, which began air service last November, offers a quality alternative to leisure and business travelers who have been relegated to exhausting road travel due to an absence of non-stop air service between South Louisiana and the Tennessee Valley region, according to a company press release.

Due to GLO’s economical fare structure, travelers will realize a cost-effective and timely alternative to driving between the Crescent City and the Rocket City.

“We are very excited to launch non-stop service between New Orleans and Huntsville, Alabama,” GLO Founder/CEO Trey Fayard said. “This is an under-served destination that has synergy with New Orleans as far as the business communities, especially in the engineering sector. We believe it will also serve a great need in both regions for our loyal leisure travelers.”

GLO will be Huntsville International Airport’s fourth air carrier and the new route increases the amount of destination airports to 10.

“We are thrilled to welcome GLO as a new carrier for the Tennessee Valley region,” Bill Johnston Jr. said. Johnston is Board of Directors Chairman for Huntsville International Airport.

“The addition of New Orleans to the list of non-stop destinations for our market is superb,” Johnston said. “With NASA’s heavy presence in our community, service to New Orleans for business purposes is invaluable. This is also a fantastic destination for leisure travelers and greatly complements our existing service.”

GLO’s operator, CFM, will again deploy 30-passenger Saab 340B aircraft, known for its comfort and reliability, on the new routes. A flight attendant will provide on-board service, including complimentary snacks and beverages from the region’s GLO services, as well as local publications.

GLO passengers also may transport up to three bags and one personal item free of charge.

“Huntsville and New Orleans are at the forefront of America’s space programs, collaborating to develop and build future deep space travel capabilities,” Sheila Sharp said. Sharp is a Huntsville rocket engineer who worked with industry leaders in both cities to gather data for the new service.

“This service will make a difference in terms of cost, safety, and convenience for the people who travel between the two regions,” Sharp said.

Founded in 2013, GLO offers multiple daily non-stop flights between its base in New Orleans and Huntsville, Shreveport, Little Rock and Memphis, plus seasonal service between Destin-Fort Walton Beach and both New Orleans and Little Rock.
