Elks Lodge to host Sasha’s Way fundraiser

A charity fundraiser at the Elks Lodge on Sept. 9 will benefit “Taking Care of Paws – Sasha’s Way.” CONTRIBUTED

MADISON – A charity fundraiser for “Taking Care of Paws – Sasha’s Way” will be held on Sept 9.

The Elks Lodge at 725 Franklin St. in Huntsville will host the event from 7 to 10:30 p.m. Proceeds will benefit non-profit organizations for animal rescue.

The event commemorates nine-year-old Alexandra ‘Sasha’ Dison, who died in 2014 from Stage 4 rhabdomayosarcoma, a cancer of the connective tissue. For her last birthdays, Sasha started a tradition of declining gifts for herself and encouraging friends to bring cat and dog food to distribute to needy animals.

The Taking Care of Paws – Sasha’s Way organization commemorates Sasha’s love for animals and uses the motto, “One girl, one mission, to help sick and injured homeless pets.”

The party will feature the rocking sounds of the popular band Jedeye. A cash bar will provide libations.

Guests can vie for gift baskets in a raffle. In addition, a 50/50 drawing will be held. Organizers will accept donations of dog and cat food for local pet groups.

Tickets are $15 and available at the Elks Lodge or by calling 256-679-0681. Tickets include food and tea or coffee.
