Brophy Sisters to entertain for ‘Music at Messiah’

MADISON – Two sisters who have excelled in music will be the next featured artists in the “Music at Messiah” concert series.
The Brophy Sisters’ concert will be held on Nov. 13 at 4 p.m. at Messiah Lutheran Church, 7240 U.S. 72 in Madison.
Originally from Memphis, Tenn., Maeve and Linnaea Brophy perform as a classical piano and violin duo. “They have presented numerous performances across the country and abroad,” concert coordinator John W. Shriver said.
Based in Nashville, Maeve is a collaborative pianist and an accompanist at Blair School of Music at Vanderbilt University and Adjunct Instructor of Secondary Piano at Belmont University.
Linnaea is a graduate student and rising star at the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston. She has received numerous honors and performed as concertmaster in several orchestras.
“They have devoted their lives to studying the literature of the great masters, and they want to share their work with you,” Shriver said.
For their Music at Messiah program, the Brophy Sisters will performs selections by Bach, Brahms, Debussy, Ravel and Kreisler. “As always, the concert is free and open to the public,” Shriver said. “A light reception will follow to allow guests to meet Maeve and Linnaea.”
Maeve Brophy gave her first solo recital at nine years old and made her orchestral debut at 15. She has given solo and collaborative performances in Wells, England; the Amalfi Coast; Kiev, Ukraine; New York City; San Francisco; Seattle; Aspen; Nashville and Memphis.
Maeve has performed for the Memphis Chamber Music Society and Artist Ascending Series in Memphis. She earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, master’s degree from Texas Christian University and studied at Manhattan School of Music and New England Conservatory of Music.
Linnaea has performed repertoire ranging from Bach solos to duos with piano to chamber and orchestral music. She was a scholarship student of Donald Weilerstein and Lucy Chapman at the New England Conservatory.
Linnaea has participated in master classes with Vadim Repin, Ivry Gitlis and other virtuosos. In 2015, Linnaea won second place in the Bales Violin Competition at New England Conservatory.
