River City soccer goes undefeated

MADISON – The River City United Stars completed an undefeated 2016 fall season playing at the Girls U15 level. The team missed the title of state finalist by the loss of one game.
James Taylor III and assistant coach Jenny Gibson coach the Stars. Tammie Dodson is their manager.
“Teams that fell at the hands (and feet) of the stars this season were the River City United FX, Raptors and Strikers,” parent volunteer Ellis Clark said. “They also defeated Trussville United, Homewood SC Freedom, Birmingham United, VHSC Attack 02 and Capitol City Streaks 02.”
Throughout this season, the Stars scored 35 goals on their opponents, while holding the numbers of goals scored against them to 3.
The Stars’ success propelled them to the state championship. In this contest, they again played and defeated River City United Raptors, VHSC Attack 02 and Trussville United.
Unfortunately, Capitol City Streaks brought the Stars’ winning streak to an end; the Streaks garnered the title of State Finalist. “Our girls worked hard all season and overcame surmountable odds, injuries and challenges to get where they are today, and we are all proud of them,” Clark said.
