MADISON- When Bob Jones Girls Basketball Coach Andre Reynolds calls a play it usually involves #12, senior Kiaira Moore. Moore averages about 9 points and 9 rebounds per game. Earlier this season she scored 19 in a game.
Moore scored 8 against James Clemens including two baskets to start the second half. Bob Jones held the Jets scoreless in the third quarter. The 8 points allowed were actually not the lowest of the season, the girls beat Grissom 27-6.
The win over James Clemens runs Bob Jones area record to 2-2 and avenges a 41-31 loss to the Jets on Dec. 9.
Moore has size (5-foot-10) and speed which she uses to run the court better than most girls she plays against.
“Kiaira is a big plus for us. She has been doing a great job this season,” Reynolds said. “She rebounds the ball well for us and she is one of the team leaders. I have five seniors and they are all leaders because they have more experience.”
In the classroom Moore carries a perfect 4.0 GPA. She was named Bob Jones High School Heisman winner back in November.
She is still undecided on where she will attend college.
One thing she is certain about is her desire for the team to get back to the playoffs and back to the NW Regional at Wallace State where the Patriots were knocked off by Hoover last season.
Reynolds has brought the program back after being down for several seasons.
“It was big for the program because we hadn’t made the regional in several years since Tim Miller was the coach. Now the girls have that experience and they know we can play better so it fires these girls up. We got to play defense like we did tonight and we will get back there.”
Bob Jones still has road area games at Sparkman Jan. 20 and Buckhorn Jan. 23. Senior Night is Jan.31 against Muscle Shoals.
