Heritage benefits from Jones’ volunteering

Kelly and Brian Jones have three daughters: Landry, Emma and Harper. CONTRIBUTED

MADISON – Kelly Jones is so content with Madison life that she and husband Brian encouraged her parents to move here five years ago.

“Madison is a wonderful place to raise our family. Schools offer high quality education; parents are heavily involved in the school setting,” Kelly said. “My children have learned so much about different cultures from friends at school.”

A native of Fort Payne, Kelly feels that same hometown appeal in Madison, although the population is larger.

Majoring in education, she earned a bachelor’s degree at the University of Alabama and a master’s degree from the University of West Alabama. After graduation in 2002, Kelly moved to Madison and was hired as an English teacher and cheerleading coach at Bob Jones High School, where she worked 7.5 years until deciding to stay home with her children.

Husband Brian works as a financial advisor with Wells Fargo Advisors. Kelly and Brian have three daughters who attend Heritage Elementary School. Emma, 9, is a fourth-grader and ACE competition cheerleader. Harper, 7, a first-grader, loves animals and horseback riding. Six-year-old Landry is a kindergartner who enjoys classes at The Dance Company.

During afternoons, “I play chauffeur for my daughters involved in gymnastics, competition cheer, dance, horseback riding, soccer, basketball and softball,” Kelly said.

Kelly’s volunteering now focuses on Heritage. She has been room mom for Emma and Landry’s classes and a ‘weekly reader’ for Harper’s class. Kelly has been elected to Heritage PTA’s board.

Recently, Kelly introduced her daughters to volunteering while at Manna House. “They thoroughly enjoyed helping to deliver hygiene items to families that night.”

The Jones family owns four pets. “Boomer and Gracie are old English Bulldogs. Boo is our two-year-old black cat that we rescued. Our recent addition, Rocket, is a ‘Morkie’ (Maltese-Yorkie) puppy that we gave Harper for her seventh birthday,” Kelly said.

Kelly listens to all types of music. “I have praise music playing as I work around the house or run errands. I love Hillsong Worship. My favorite song is ‘Thy Will Be Done’ by Hillary Scott and Family,” Kelly said.

When the family eats out, they go to Panera Bread, Taziki’s, Moe’s and Uncle Maddio’s. For date night, Brian and Kelly enjoy Cork & Crust and Stem & Stein.
