Police arrest Decatur man after hit-and-run

MADISON – Madison police officers have arrested a Decatur man after a hit-and-run accident on I-565 on May 5.

Just before 5 a.m. on May 5, Madison police officers responded to a vehicle accident in the westbound lane of I-565 near Wall Triana. Before police arrived, the driver of one of the vehicles fled on foot. The two occupants in the other vehicle were transported to the hospital with injuries.

Traffic investigators with Madison Police Department were able to identify the driver who fled the scene as 22-year-old Jerry Morgan of Decatur. With assistance of Decatur police, Madison police officers arrested Morgan in Decatur on May 5 for Felony – Leaving the Scene of an Accident. Morgan was taken to Madison County Jail on a $2,500 bond.
