Curtis served in Iraq, UAE, Qatar and Kuwait

MADISON – Sean Curtis enlisted in the Iowa Air National Guard in 2005. Currently, he is a Master Sergeant in Mississippi Air National Guard.

Curtis completed Basic Military Training for the U.S. Air Force at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas. He completed Computers, Networks, Switching and Cryptographic Maintenance School at Keesler AFB, in Biloxi, Miss.

“After that, I served in 133rd Test Squadron in Fort Dodge, Iowa. I transferred to 255th Air Control Squadron in Gulfport, Miss. in 2010,” Curtis said.

Curtis completed his first TDY assignment overseas as a civilian contractor. “I went to Balad AB, Iraq in 2008; Al Dhafra AB in the United Arab Emirates in 2011; and Al Udeid AB, Qatar in 2009 and 2012,” he said. “I deployed with my unit in uniform in 2013, spending six months in Ali Al Salem AB, Kuwait.”

Aurelia, Iowa is his hometown. He received an associate’s degree in information systems/computer networking at Western Iowa Tech Community College in 2004. Currently, Curtis is attending Calhoun Community College and plans to transfer to the University of Alabama in Huntsville to pursue a bachelor’s degree in mathematics.

He moved to the Madison area in January 2008 to accept a contractor position with an USAF program.

Curtis works for Signalink Inc. as a systems integrator for the Integrated Air and Missile Defense program. His office is located at IAMD’s Government Systems Integration Lab at the Software Engineering Directorate on Redstone Arsenal.

His wife Cindy works as an accountant at Sanmina. The Curtises have a pet rabbit named Dusty.

Sean Curtis is an Elder at Lamb of God Lutheran Church. He participates with Mississippi NCO Association and Enlisted Association of the National Guard of the United States.

“My wife and I enjoy running, kayaking and hiking. I enjoy shooting, riding my motorcycle and brewing beer. Cindy is a member of Dixie Derby Girls roller derby team,” he said.
