Jonathan Tatum met baseball great Mike Trout

MADISON – Jonathan Tatum likes the sport of baseball so much that he plays at school and also in a recreational league.

He is a member of the Panthers baseball team at Discovery Middle School and plays on a team in the Grip N Rip baseball league. The primary field positions that Jonathan covers are pitcher and third base.

“Baseball is fun, and I get to play with friends,” Jonathan said. He is in eighth grade at Discovery.

Jonathan has an older sister, Bailey, who is in ninth grade at Bob Jones High School and plays positions of shortstop, second base and pitcher in softball for the Patriots and Tennessee Fury 2021 team. Jonathan and Bailey’s parents are Daniel and Denise Tatum.

Daniel is self-employed as owner of a commercial landscape company. Denise Tatum is a registered nurse and works at the Surgery Center of Huntsville. The Tatum family moved to Madison in 1999 because of job opportunities for Daniel and Denise.

Q: What is your favorite restaurant in Madison?

A: Jonathan’s favorite place is Sakura Sushi & Steak House.

Q: What’s your favorite food?

A: Jonathan’s favorite order when eating out is fried rice from Sakura. He also likes to eat hamburgers and steak.

Q: What are your favorite sports teams?

A: His favorite sports teams are the Gators of the University of Florida and the Los Angeles Angels.

Q: What is your favorite sports memory?

A: Jonathan will always remember the day when he had the opportunity to talk to Mike Trout. A professional baseball player, Trout plays center fielder for the Los Angeles Angels in Major League Baseball and has won the title of MLB All-Star six times.

Q: What do you like to do in your free time?

A: Jonathan enjoys playing challenging games on Xbox and going on fishing trips with his dad.
