Duncan helps deployed obtain world-class tech support

MADISON – Leslie Duncan works as a Contract Specialist assigned to Army Contracting Command on Redstone Arsenal (ACC-RSA).

“Our mission is to support soldiers worldwide by contracting for major weapon system production and services vital to our soldiers’ mission and well-being. We are headquartered at Redstone Arsenal, Alabama,” Leslie said.

Currently, she is assigned to Program Execution Office (PEO) Aviation, Project Management Office, Unmanned Aircraft Systems (PM UAS). “Our mission is to provide our nation and its allies with world-class interoperable unmanned aircraft systems and integrated payloads through excellent in-program management and life cycle support,” Leslie said.

“The PM UAS team, comprised of soldiers, civilians and industry partners alike, works tirelessly to provide world-class UAS technology and support to our nation’s forwarded deployed men and women,” Leslie said.

Leslie’s job led her to move here in a ‘permanent change of station’ or PCS. “I’ve never regretted moving here,” she said.

Leslie moved here from Roy, Utah, just north of Salt Lake City. Living in Utah didn’t offer the hometown feeling as life in Alabama. “Weather is better here. I don’t miss snowy and icy roads,” Leslie said.

“I love the proximity to the Huntsville Airport and Madison/Huntsville Hospital,” she said. “Madison has a smaller-town feel, yet big-city convenience.”

In addition, Leslie loves the availability of Madison elected officials working with residents on issues, excellent schools, friendly neighbors, diverse grocery stores with Walmart versus Kroger, outstanding variety of restaurants, low crime and distance to major metropolitan area — two hours to Nashville and four hours to Atlanta.

An Air Force brat, Leslie was born in Salina, Kan. She has lived in Michigan, twice in Mississippi, Idaho and Utah, along with three years in England and Okinawa, Japan.

“I had the best of both worlds. While younger, my family moved frequently due to dad’s military career. Yet, I was fortunate to attend junior and high school in the same town, graduating from Mountain Home High School, Mountain Home, Idaho,” Leslie said.

When listening to music, Leslie will opt for country and top 40. Her choices in restaurants include Main Street Cafe, LawLers Barbecue and Golden China, to name a few.
