Writing mentor Fallon to hold library workshop

MADISON – Allison Fallon, a mentor for writers, will discuss the profound impact that writing has on a writer’s emotional well-being, spouse, family and ultimately the world.

Fallon’s free, one-hour workshop, “Writing to Find Yourself,” will be held on Sept. 11 at 6 p.m. at Madison Public Library.

“Ms. Fallon has spent the past 10 years helping hundreds of writers to get words on paper. In many cases, this has helped them get books and articles and blog posts published,” Adult Services Librarian Anne Wood said.

“Research shows writing is one of the most powerful ways to increase confidence, lower anxiety, curb depression, re-route neurological pathways, break bad habits and empower you to create a life you love,” Fallon said.

According to research, writing is a simple practice “that you can do every day on your own that can unlock your potential, calm your anxiety, heal your physical body, improve your relationships and help you find the answers to all the questions that keep you awake at night,” she said.

Writing “can make you a better friend, a better parent, a better partner, a better communicator and a happier, more fully ‘you’ version of yourself,” Fallon said.

“Maybe you have this sense already … a deep, intuitive knowing that it’s time to write your story,” Fallon said. “You may not know where to start, you may worry you are a terrible writer, but you know in a way you can’t explain quite yet that you’re ready to write.”

“When we all show up with the highest versions of ourselves, things change,” she said.

“If you’ve always wanted to get started writing, but don’t know how or where to start, join us at Madison Public Library on Sept. 11 at 6 p.m. to hear Allison Fallon,” Wood said.

Madison Public Library’s address is 130 Plaza Blvd. For more information, call 256-774-8339, email awood@hmcpl.org or visit hmcpl.org/Madison or Facebook/MadisonPublicLibraryAL.
