Sausage Fest to fire up Sept. 9

MADISON – Grills will fire up on Sept. 9 when Blue Pants Brewery hosts Sausage Fest 2017.

Sausage Fest will open at noon. For four consecutive years, Blue Pants has celebrated the tasty, spicy blends of sausage with a party at the brewery, 500 Lanier Road in Madison.

This year’s Sausage Fest event brings a new twist,” Blue Pants owner Allison Spratley said. “Blue Pants Brewery will partner with Madison Fire Department to host a community event like no other.”

Madison firefighters will grill sausage all day to sell to event guests. All money collected from the sale of these sausages will go directly to the fire department’s chosen charity, The Alzheimer’s Association.

“Blue Pants Brewery and the Madison Fire Department would like to thank Halsey Food Services for the donation of all the sausage for their portion of the event,” Spratley said.

For 2017, Sausage Fest will bring back the competition for backyard cook teams. These teams will distribute samples of their own sausage creations, along with side dishes.

Guests can sample the cook teams’ food and vote on their favorite taste during the People’s Choice Competition from noon to 3 p.m. “We still have openings for a few more cook teams if community members and/or businesses are interested in participating. Email blue@bluepantsbrew.com for more information,” Spratley said.

During Sausage Fest 2017, Blue Pants will offer four different German style beers. “We are excited to release the following beers just in time for this year’s event: Pilsener, Hefeweizen, Schwarzbier and the popular Oktoberfest,” she said. “Additionally, Blue Pants will offer two small batch wheat beers at the event.”

Guests will enjoy live music all day. Football games will be shown on a wide-screen television.

Ticket options are available:

* Basic admission — $10 per person and includes souvenir cup.

* All-Access Admission — $20 per person and includes access to People’s Choice competition, one beer and souvenir cup

* Twelve-year-olds and younger will be admitted free.

Tickets are available at Blue Pants Brewery or visit Facebook/Sausage Fest 2017. For more information, call 256-325-1131.
