James Clemens homecoming special for the Bigelow family

MADISON-  James Clemens celebrated Homecoming Friday night and the Bigelow family took centerstage at halftime.

Senior Michael Bigelow escorted Hannah Bryan to midfield then was named Homecoming King. His younger sister, Charlotte, was already on the field as a sophomore attendant escorted through the JROTC Sabre team by Jackson Burchfield.

Senior Danielle Spencer was crowned homecoming queen to wrap up a week of festivities that included dress-up days for character, patriotism, and life stages.

After the ceremony Michael and Charlotte reflected on what it meant to share the one-time moment with each other.

“This is my first year being on court it was really exciting,” Charlotte said. “I’m glad I got to do it with my brother. He amazes me every day. He’s so protective of me and I’m so proud of him and glad he won. It was a great experience to be on court representing the best school in the United States. It was awesome seeing everybody in the crowd and having everyone support us.”

Charlotte is in her second year on the James Clemens competition cheerleading squad.

Michael plays baseball for James Clemens and can usually be found playing infield.

He is accepted and ready to go to Auburn next year unless he gets an appointment to the US Naval Academy.

Michael and Charlotte are the son and daughter of Susan and Scott Bigelow.

“My parents are so supportive of everything we do win or lose they are always there for us,” Charlotte said. “They have very high expectations of us and I wouldn’t have it any other way.”

Both kids are involved in FCA both locally and statewide. Michael is senior class president.

Susan Bigelow gives back to the community by tutoring at Heritage Elementary. Scott works as a contractor in the defense industry.

One thing the Bigelow kids still want is a win over Bob Jones.

“It’s crazy, like last year we did better than them in the season and playoffs but it’s just that one game. I guess it is just too much excitement and adrenaline. Maybe next year,” Charlotte said.

James Clemens lost the football game 28-0 to Clay-Chalkville.
