A floating head? Only part of Venture Crew’s Haunted House

MADISON – A Halloween tradition will return on Oct. 28 when Venture Crew 007 hosts its spine-chilling, 13th annual Haunted House.

To enjoy the fun, just follow the shrieks and screams to St. John the Baptist Catholic School at 1057 Hughes Road on Oct. 28 from 6 to 9 p.m.

“This Halloween weekend once again promises to be one of frights and chills,” parent spokesperson Mark Richerson said. “The many ghosts and goblins of past years will make a frightening return to scare the young and old alike in good nature, bone-chilling fun.”

The cast of crazy characters will include a creepy clown, inmates from an asylum, an intriguing floating head and displaced mad scientist. “The creatures have strange behaviors,” Richerson said. “However, they have promised to be on good behavior so you should not worry if your tolerance for the supernatural is low.

“These scary creatures have taken an oath to be family friendly, and they are trained to tone down their behavior for smaller children while stepping it up for older children and adults who might like a bit more fright in their tour,” Richerson said.

The yearly phantasmal visitors are doing their part to hold down inflation once again by requesting only a $5 donation to support Venture Crew 007’s goals of service, learning and adventure.

In previous years, the Venture Crew has used event proceeds to sponsor Madison’s annual St. Patrick’s Day Family Parade and Pet Walk that assembles families, young couples and many of their pet dogs on the walking path along Hughes Road. In 2016, the Venture Crew collected more than 1,000 pounds of food for rescue and shelter animals.

“The Venture Crew also participates in outdoor adventures like kayaking, hiking and skiing. The organization is open to boys and girls that have completed the eighth grade or are at least 14 years old,” Richerson said.
