Motorists should yield to milling, repaving

MADISON – Crew members needed to bundle up against cold temperatures to start road work on several streets in Madison on Dec. 11.

Crews will be milling and paving Madison roadways at least up to Christmas Day.

Widening on Hardiman Road was scheduled to begin on Dec. 4, but the city had to delay their schedule because of weather concerns. Starting Dec. 11 and continuing for about two weeks, Madison Public Works Department will work on the intersection of Hardiman Road and County Line Road.

Widening Hardiman Road at the intersection is needed to prepare for installing a new traffic signal. To avoid heavy traffic, crews will work between the hours of 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. to avoid the heavy traffic. City officials caution drivers that flag personnel will be present; they must follow the traffic control direction of the flag personnel.

In another project that started on Dec. 11, milling and paving will begin on several streets in central Madison:

* Park Meadow neighborhood — North Rock Hampton Drive, South Rock Hampton Drive, North Interlaken Drive and South Interlaken Drive.

* North of Mill Road — Station Road and Chaparral Circle.

A city spokesperson said that this work will continue for approximately two weeks, if weather conditions permit crews to be onsite.

Another project started in late November to mill and pave several streets east of Hughes Road and south of Old Madison Pike. Estimated completed date is the end of December. The streets in this project are Marion, Larry, Walton, Brentwood , Clift and Carter drives; Larry Place; Larry, Keith and Carter circles; Walton Road; Carol and Gilmore streets; and Sharp Boulevard.
