Ms. Susan’s Kitchen featured on ‘Baker Spotlight’ show

MADISON COUNTY – A popular, online cooking show featured the decadent, hard-to-resist desserts from Ms. Susan’s Kitchen, owned by local entrepreneur Susan Alston Johnson.

“Baker’s Spotlight,” a production by two-time Emmy-winning media mogul Rushion McDonald, spotlighted the Cinnamon Roll Apple Crisp from Ms. Susan’s Kitchen on Dec. 29, 2017.

“Rushion McDonald has turned his attention to showcasing small business owners in his weekly ‘Baker’s Spotlight,’ viewed by thousands upon thousands nationally,” Johnson said. “He markets his work across the nation via his many social media platforms.” (@RushionMcDonald)

McDonald also hosts “Money-Making Conversations” His production credits include television’s “Family Feud,” “The Jamie Foxx Show,” “Sister, Sister” and “Steve Harvey TV.” McDonald’s movie credits include “Think Like a Man.”

“He’s known as the architect in building the Steve Harvey global media brand, along with other accolades,” Johnson said.

Johnson founded her cottage-law bakery business after a vehicular accident left her temporarily unable to handle the rigor of a daily job.

Johnson needed to supplement her household income as a single parent. She decided to take what life had dealt her as an opportunity to thrive.

“While still recovering and with the help of family and friends, I opened the specialized delivery home-based bakery featuring my signature breads, cinnamon rolls and holiday dessert favorites,” Johnson said.

Through perseverance and faith, Ms. Susan’s Kitchen continues with hopes of growing from a home-based bakery to a national retail supplier. “My goal is to employ other single moms and those needing assistance,” Johnson said.

In other ventures, Johnson also is President/CEO of Alston Group Incorporated. One of her local clients is Mary Louis King Crosby, who portrays the feisty senior citizen, Ms. Wheezy, and her stage show.
