Madison City Schools closed on Jan. 17 —
“Madison City Schools will remain closed on Wednesday, Jan. 17. The snow, coupled with falling temperatures throughout the day, caused whatever snowmelt that had occurred on roadways to refreeze into black ice.”
“Myself, along with several employees, drove the roads today to check on travel conditions. Driving became more treacherous as the day wore on and refreezing had occurred.”
“Weather forecasts say temperatures will drop overnight to near single digits and not climb above freezing until Thursday. I don’t see how that will improve road conditions enough to ensure safe travel for everyone including our buses and teenage drivers.”
“I’m ready to get the kids (and myself) back in school. I think we are all getting a little stir crazy. I just want to make sure it’s safe for everyone.”
