2018 St. John’s Gala takes ‘Shaken Not Stirred’ theme

HUNTSVILLE – “Shaken Not Stirred” is the 2018 theme for St. John the Baptist Catholic School’s annual benefit gala.

In its 19th year, the gala will be held on Feb. 10 at the Von Braun Center.

The gala is St. John’s largest fundraiser of the year, “featuring an exciting evening of fun and fellowship to benefit our children and our school,” gala co-chair Alicia Detwiler. She and Tom Detwiler are 2018 co-chairs. Following the spy theme, the Detwilers have been nicknamed “Secret Agents in Charge.”

“Her Majesty’s Secret Service requests your presence for a night of spies and innuendo, complete with dinner, complimentary beer and wine, featuring a performance by the Rocket 5 Band,” Tom Detwiler said.

Coat check will be available in the lobby. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. for preview viewing of the silent auction, and bidding will start at 6 p.m. Dinner will be served at 6:45 p.m.

“Come dressed to kill and ready to play games and shop our fabulous live and silent auctions,” Detwiler said. The after-party will feature dancing to the tunes of DJ Jazzy Greg and is open to all guests 21 years old and over. Posh attire is recommended for all gents and ladies.

The fundraiser ends at 10:15 p.m. with prize drawings, including the $10,000 raffle. Attendance is not required to win the raffle.

Gala tickets are $75 per person or $150 per couple. Guests can buy tickets at stjohnb.com/benefitgala/tickets.html, at the school, church or gala.

Guests can park for $5 in North Hall parking lot on Clinton Avenue or Monroe Street City Parking Garage. Embassy Suites Huntsville Hotel & Spa, connected by Sky Bridge to VBC, is offering the St. John’s rate of $124.
