YMCA to host ‘Healthy Kids Day’ on April 21

MADISON – Hogan Family YMCA in Madison will host “Healthy Kids Day” on April 21 to help families with the needed tools for kids stay active and engaged all summer long.

Event hours will be 9 a.m. to noon. The event is free.

Healthy Kids Day is a nationwide initiative to improve health and well-being of children and families. Healthy Kids Day reminds parents not to let their children idle away summer days but instead focus on physical and mental play.

The event features make-and-take projects, games, healthy eating demonstrations, kid-friendly exercise, first responders and children’s activities to motivate families in ways to maintain healthy routines at home throughout the summer months.

“There are no days off for a child’s developing mind and body,” Heart of the Valley YMCA President/CEO Jerry Courtney said.

During Healthy Kids Day, participants will learn about giving ‘High Five’ to fruits and vegetables. Other topics will include reading together, ‘get moving’ with active projects, playing together to fight obesity and making sleep a priority.

Southeast Family YMCA in Huntsville also will present Healthy Kids Day.
