Patriots To Be “Streamed” Live From Freedom Bowl

MADISON- The Bob Jones football program will soon be on the national stage as its been announced the Patriots second game of the upcoming season at the Freedom Bowl, presented by Battle Sports, versus Daytona, Fla. Mainland will be available live streaming exclusively on FloFootball.com.

Bob Jones will face the Buccaneers in the first of the event’s six games over two days in the Freedom Bowl on Friday, Aug. 31 with kickoff at 4:00 p.m. central time.

“This is a big deal as anytime you get positive publicity for your program it’s good,” said Kevin Rose Patriots’ head coach. “This is a no-brainer and what we wanted to do.”

The Freedom Bowl brings together 12 high profile programs from Alabama, Florida, Georgia, New Jersey and Canada to compete in the heart of Atlanta’s championship-laden high school football powerhouses at Milton High School in Alpharetta, Ga.

The complete lineup includes Daytona Mainland, Fla. vs. Bob Jones (Aug. 31, 4:00 p.m.), Cardinal Gibbons, Fla. vs. Milton, Ga. (Aug. 31, 7:30 p.m.), Chaminade-Madonna, Fla. vs. Muscle Shoals, Ala. (Sept. 1, 9:00 a.m.), American Heritage, Fla. vs. St Joseph’s, N.J. (Sept. 1, 12:30 p.m.), Stoneman Douglas, Fla. vs. St Matthews, Ontario, Canada (Sept. 1, 4:00 p.m.) and North Gwinnett, Ga. Vs. Wekiva, Fla. (Sept. 1, 7:30 p.m.).

“We swapped with Christian Brothers High of Memphis as that game will now be played here in Madison as a home game on Aug. 24,” said Rose of his team’s season opener. “We’ll return the favor and play there next season. This is a great opportunity for our players, coaches and fans as we put our best foot forward. This is what our players want to do. I’m always looking for something that’s good for our players and program.”

In addition to the live streaming, Dickey Broadcasting Company will broadcast every game across one of its many Atlanta-based radio stations. The decision on which station has not been made, but the three broadcast pods include AM 680, 1230 and 1340 and FM 93.7, 106.3 and 103.7.

“We know the importance of selecting the right strategic partners for an event like the Freedom Bowl, “ explained Freedom Bowl founder David Menard. “Media and marketing plans play a critical role in the success of practically any sporting event. We’re excited to have partners that share our vision and want to be part of something special.”

The Freedom Bowl platform aims to raise awareness for veterans, wounded servicemen and servicewomen and their families. Coaches and athletes will be afforded the opportunity to visit former and current members of the U.S. Military. In addition, participants will have the chance to interact with both active and former service members who have been wounded while serving America in harm’s way.

Bob Jones got involved with the elite event by way of Muscle Shoals High. The Trojans’ head coach attended a national conference on high schools and struck up a conversation with the officials of the Freedom Bowl who invited the North Alabama team. The coach agreed to play, but only if they invited Bob Jones as well.

“We’ve reinforced to our coaches and players to conduct themselves in a nice, professional way and to represent what we stand for,” added Rose. “We know we’ll be on the national spotlight.”

Rose said the trip has been set for 112 total places on the two buses that will transport the team, coaches and team assistants to and from Atlanta. The group will exit Madison Thursday evening. On Friday, the festivities surrounding the Freedom Bowl will include players’ activities and press conferences.

Rose added, “This will be a bowl game atmosphere and we want to compete for the entire 48 minutes of the game and represent our school and city well.”
