Bob Jones opens Friday night; Hill will announce JC week

MADISON- As if the third week of the season needed any more excitement, Bob Jones’ Jaydon Hill will announce his commitment to where he will play college football the week of the game against James Clemens.

Hill is ranked the second-best corner in Alabama and 51st best player in the nation by Rivals.com.

Hill has offers from Florida, Tennessee, South Carolina, West Virginia and a host of other schools.

He will sign in the early signing period in November and be an early enrollee in January.

But first he has his senior season to play and a lot is riding on each game as the Patriots will open at home against Christian Brothers a private school in Memphis. Christian Brothers has two defensive linemen who are SEC commits but it is their quarterback and receivers who have Hills attention.

“I’m excited to finally play a game. We have a really good team,” Hill said.

Hill had five interceptions a year ago and returned one for a touchdown. He will be at his customary left corner position.

“They throw deep balls but they are mostly a run heavy team. They should test us and give me a chance to show what I’m capable of doing,” Hill said.  “Our secondary is prepared for the run game. We have been putting in the work and we are ready.”

Bob Jones opened with two tough losses last year but they expect different results this year.

“Christian Brothers is one of the top teams out of Memphis and I expect a tough game. Coach Rose scheduled two tough games leading up to the region game against James Clemens.”

Hill said he does not expect to get off to an 0-2 start this season.

Wednesday Coach Kevin Rose, who is entering his 10th season as head coach, put his players through a crisp practice. The team will sport their new blue game jerseys Friday night. Rose is 80-25 overall at Bob Jones. The last time Bob Jones played a team from Tennessee they defeated Walnut Creek 66-13 to open the 2011 season.

“I have high expectations for this team,” Rose said. “We play probably the most challenging schedule ever but I have confidence in our team.”

The team captains as voted by the players are Jaydon Hill, Chris Cobb, Caden Rose and Colby Morell.
