Jets, Pats: Bragging rights, rankings at stake in top 10 showdown

By Bud McLaughlin

MADISON – It’s just not a game between two intracity rivals Friday night.

But it’s a battle of two preseasons Alabama Sportswriters Association Top 10 teams in Class 7A when No. 6 Bob Jones meets No. 10 James Clemens.

The Region 4 showdown kicks off at 7 p.m. at Madison City Schools Stadium. Bob Jones leads the series 6-0.

Last year, the Patriots rolled to a 40-14 win on the strength of Bob Jones quarterback Caden Rose. He completed 20 of 32 passes for 273 yards and three touchdowns.

Rose, a junior, returns to run the Bob Jones offense. An Alabama baseball commit, Rose is a threat on the ground and in the air. Look for Khalil Griffin to be the workhouse in the running game while, on defense, Jaydon Hill is a four-star cornerback.

The Jets are led this season by quarterback Jamil Muhammad, a Vanderbilt commit, and running back Dylan Blackburn, who had 74 yards against the Patriots last year. On the other side of the line, Vandy commit Daevion Davis anchors the defensive front.
