Webster, Calce change roles with HEMSI

MADISON COUNTY – Members of the executive staff have changed for Huntsville Emergency Medical Services Inc. or HEMSI.

Longtime HEMSI chief Don Webster has transitioned from Chief Operations Officer to the new role of Community Relations Officer. Dea Calce has accepted the responsibilities of Chief Operations Officer for the organization.

HEMSI, a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization, provides ambulance service to Madison County and offers world-class service and the highest standards of care, according to its website. (hemsi.org)

Webster has compiled more than 37 years at HEMSI, with 32 of those years in executive leadership. In his new role as Community Relations Officer, Webster will direct his focus on strengthening relationships with community partners and agencies, along with working with HEMSI team members to maximize and maintain positive customer service throughout the organization.

Calce becomes COO with extensive experience in both emergency medical services and the Army National Guard. With HEMSI, he was worked as Relief Shift Supervisor, EMS Program Manager and Company Commander.

Calce has managed every aspect of emergency medical services operations and readiness during his time with HEMSI, Redstone Arsenal and National Guard. He brings a solid history of management success to continue HEMSI’s operational proficiency, HEMSI Chief Executive Officer Jon Howell said.

“HEMSI is very fortunate to have the talents and professionalism of Don Webster and Dea Calce in our executive administration,” Howell said. “They provide a wealth of knowledge, and we look forward to enhancing both operational efficiency and community programs through these two dedicated professionals.”

“Having been with HEMSI since that very first day in 1981, I am so grateful for the opportunity to continue serving the organization and community by working with our hospitals, our fellow first responders and our citizens to have the very best emergency medical services possible,” Webster said.

Calce feels honored to work with the HEMSI team in his new assignment. “I hope together we can continue to improve the quality of patient care that we deliver to our community, while also taking care of our employees who work so hard,” Calce said.
