Bob Jones Fall Baseball Camp

MADISON- The Fall Classic is underway to complete the 2018 season of Major League Baseball, but for youngsters in grades K-6, the fall season is perfect for a little baseball instructions.

To help the up and coming youth of Madison learn even the raw basics of the sport, the Bob Jones High baseball program is hosting its annual Fall Baseball Camp in a pair of Tuesdays and Thursdays meetings at the team’s indoor hitting facility at the school.

“We teach the basics of hitting and pitching from the ground up in these sessions as we work each camp attendee through a series of skills stations,” said Jared Smith head coach of Bob Jones. “We use all of our players and coaches to assist in having each camper receive the proper way to do the simple things in baseball.”

The camp will be held Nov. 6, 8, 13 and 15 with the hitting camp held 5:15-6:30 p.m. and the pitching camp taking place 6:30-7:45 p.m. The hitting and pitching camp fees are $100 each or a camper can participate in both portions of the camp at a discount fee of $175. Registration is available directly at https://goo.gl/forms/u7uBi2dozatAm5A83 or by visiting the Bob Jones Athletic website at www.bobjonesathletics.com. Registration is also available as walk-ups at the camp.

Smith expects around 20 attendees this year indicating the fall camp is much smaller than the usual summer camp he hosts during the school’s summer vacation. The campers will be divided by age with some divided by their level of ability as some children are a little more advanced than others in the sport.

“We’ve had kids returning from other camps we’ve hosted and to see the progression these kids have made since the last camp is nice,” added Smith.

Parents are encouraged to attend as benches and chairs will be brought into the indoor facility to accommodate those parents who want to stay at the camp and watch their children receive some valuable instructions. Smith said parents can certainly drop off their children and pick them up at the end of the camp session.

“If the weather is nice, we may also go outside for some instructional sessions,” added Smith.
