Large Crowd Cheers Trash Pandas Logo Unveiling

MADISON- North Alabama’s newest baseball team took another step toward reality with its unveiling of the team logo and team colors at a recent special public gathering at Dublin Memorial Park.

With hundreds in attendance, the Rocket City Trash Pandas showed off its official team logo and team colors at the community celebration. The logo features a raccoon in an engineered rocket made out of a trash can. The team’s colors are community-styled named Space Black, Rocket Red, Sky Blue and Trashcan Gray. Each of the official team colors pay homage to the region’s space heritage.

“After record-breaking attendance at both our team name reveal and groundbreaking ceremonies, it was only fitting to do this unveiling big,” said Ballcorps Managing Partner and team CEO Ralph Nelson. “It was a fantastic evening and the event was our way of saying thank you to the community that has embraced this team and the reaction is beyond anything seen in minor league baseball, ever.”

Mike Gentle, director of the City of Madison Public Works, estimated the crowd in attendance at 6-7,000. “Many of those attending arrived and bought merchandise and did not stay for the entire event. This was a well-orchestrated event by all of the City of Madison departments and Ballcorps,” added Gentle.

With the video announcements shown on a large screen display, the largest cheers from the crowd came when the official team logo was unveiled and for the second of six total logo used by the team, which included a raccoon caring an American Flag with Madison, AL. at the bottom. The team logos were designed by Casey White and Jason Klein of Brandiose located in San Diego, Cal. Nelson added, “I thought the entire branding process was one of the most fascinating experiences I’ve been a part of.”

According to Klein, the primary logo tells “the story of a raccoon with ingenuity cobbling together all the elements he needs to launch a trash can into outer space.”

Team merchandise was available for purchase inside the gymnasium of Dublin Memorial Park. The team distributed arm bands of different colors which allowed the crowd to go at different times to purchase what they wanted without overwhelming the merchandise store.

The Trash Pandas will continue to offer sales of team merchandise at its offices located at 8121 Madison Blvd., Suite 102 open weekdays, on the team’s website: www.ballcorps.com and at a new Trash Pandas store, which will open Nov. 12 at Bridge Street Town Centre. Team season ticket sales will begin Nov. 17. Team uniforms for the 2020 season will be unveiled in a fashion show next spring.

Matt Higley, who won the team name contest earlier this year, said he really didn’t have any type of vision of what the team logo should look like when he came up with the team name of Trash Pandas. He said, “I think the main logo with the trashcan rocket was the direction I hoped they would go with and I’m pleased with the results. I like it.”

“I’m so thankful for the City of Madison assistance with our efforts and to the entire community for their support of what we know will be a long and successful endeavor with the Trash Pandas,” said Nelson.
