ChuckWagon BBQ closes its doors in Madison

MADISON — After more than a decade serving Madison residents from its Madison Boulevard location, ChuckWagon BBQ announced earlier this month that it will be closing its doors to the Madison restaurant.

Despite the closure, ChuckWagon BBQ will still be operating out of their Huntsville location, as well as providing catering.

The business released this statement on their Facebook page Jan. 7:

“It’s a Sad day for us today. After 12 amazing years at our Madison location we are permanently closed. Our building is getting older and a lot of code violations where presented to us. After trying to negotiate with our landlords for the last few months we where unable to reach an agreeable solution. We are taking the next few months to focus on Catering and our South Huntsville store and to look for a building that suits our needs. We invite everyone to come see us on south side and remember we are still catering! Thanks to all of our amazing and loyal customers we will be back soon!”

More than 100 of these “amazing and loyal customers” commented on the Facebook post to express their sadness over the closing and eagerness to visit the restaurant in a new location.

“Your Madison location will surely be missed,” wrote Michael Cleveland. “Best brisket in the area. I want to say thank you for feeding the first responders on Thanksgiving, as we always appreciated yours and the staffs thoughtful gesture. Good luck finding a new location and with your future ventures.”

“When you find a new building this loyal customer will be waiting in line!” commented John Ortiz Jr.

Some even presented possible opportunities for a new location.

“I have a location just off Jeff Road that is available,” wrote Phil Williams. “I would love to talk to you about your plans!”

ChuckWagon BBQ was featured in the October 2018 edition of Madison Living magazine. To learn more about the restaurant’s journey, read the story at madisonlivingmagazine.com. For more information, or to see a menu or business hours, visit chuckwagon-bbq.com.

The “South Side” location stands at 11700H Memorial Pkwy SW in Huntsville.
