Kinesthetic Cue Dance Club celebrates 20 years with dance party

Kinesthetic Cue Dance Club celebrates 20 years with dance party

MADISON — In honor of their 20th anniversary as a studio, Kinesthetic Cue Dance Club held an extra special dance party Jan. 18 at their studio on Old Madison Pike.

The celebration was complete with plenty of cake, good company and, of course, dancing the night away.

“I’ve discovered that there are no calories in birthday cake when they’re eaten at a dance party birthday,” joked Harold Renneberg, owner and dance instructor at Kinesthetic Cue Dance Club, before the event.

Renneberg has been teaching dance for about 25 years. Since opening its doors to the public Jan. 15, 1999, the Kinesthetic Cue Dance Club has been working to help members of the Madison County community and beyond know that dancing is for everybody who wishes to learn and develop this skill. Through their methodical approach to teaching and their dance class packages tailored to the student, Renneberg and the rest of the team hope to help students have fun and become more confident dancers.

The dances Kinesthetic Cue Dance Club focuses on are the foxtrot, waltz, tango, rumba, cha-cha, swing and hustle. A newcomers class introduces students to the basics of dancing.

“I’m very excited about the studio turning 20,” Renneberg said. “What a great 20 years. … All in all I had a wonderful night.”

Both current and former students flocked to the studio to join in the fun.

“Everybody danced and were talking, and about halfway through the party we all sang ‘Happy Birthday’ and began cutting and eating the birthday cake,” he added. The dancing and reminiscing lasted until the end of the party at about 10 p.m.

Friday night dance parties aren’t just for special occasions, though. Renneberg said these weekly events offer an opportunity for the dance students to come socialize and practice their skills each week with others who are in the same boat. The dance parties begin at 8 p.m. at the studio. These dance parties are sometimes themed around holidays.

Renneberg said he likes operating out of Madison since it serves as a good central location for his students that come from Madison, Huntsville, Athens, Harvest and smaller communities in the area. Some even come from as far as Cullman, he said.

“I’ve had a good response,” Renneberg added. “A lot of dance TV shows have influenced people—kind of sparked an interest—and they come out and give it a try.”

The Kinesthetic Cue Dance Club can be found on the left end of the bottom level of Miller Plaza, located at 8006 Old Madison Pike in Madison.
