Niche grants praises for all levels of MCS instruction

MADISON – Niche research agency has granted high accolades to the three levels of instruction in Madison City Schools — elementary, middle and secondary/high school — in its “2019 Best Public High Schools.”

From hundreds of campuses statewide, all seven of Madison’s elementary schools are in the top 18. Discovery and Liberty middle schools reached the top five, according to the study by NICHE. Bob Jones and James Clemens high schools also reached the top five in Alabama.

A small but expanding team in Pittsburgh, Pa., Niche uniquely blends data from scientists, engineers, parents and ‘yinzers’ (natives of Pittsburg, Pa.) who look for exceptional performance by students and a positive climate on campus. Niche uses data from U.S. Department of Education, test scores, college data and millions of Niche users as factors in its formula. (niche.com)

The NICHE report listed Bob Jones and James Clemens in the top five Alabama high schools statewide. “Superb schools are what make Madison City such a desired place to live,” MCS Public Relations Manager John Peck said.

In a YouTube video to the district, MCS Superintendent Robert V. Parker said Niche is one of a number of different metrics that lead to state rankings. “Another ranking that confirms how good how our kids are.”

Bob Jones and James Clemens both rank in Alabama’s top five. “Makes my day. There are over 400 high schools in the state of Alabama,” Parker said.

“With hundreds of middle schools are in the state, both Discovery and Liberty middle schools were ranked in the top five,” Parker said. “I’m so proud of all of our kids. We truly have the best kids and teachers in the State of Alabama.”

All of the seven elementary schools in Madison ranked in the top 18. The state has approximately 700 elementary schools.

“Madison City elementary schools complete the trifecta of all MCS schools at the high school, middle school and elementary level, ranking near best in the state,” Peck said.
