‘Claws for a Cause’ combines crawfish and live music for a good cause

HUNTSVILLE – Huntsville Hospital Foundation is combining crawfish and live music this spring to raise money for a great cause.

The Claws for a Cause Crawfish Boil, hosted by the foundation’s Development Council, will entertain guests April 13 from noon–3 p.m. at S.R. Butler Green at Campus 805, located at 2620 Clinton Ave. W in Huntsville.

The 2018 Claws for a Cause raised a record $15,000 for the Huntsville Hospital Neurological ICU, providing new cardiac chairs and communication boards for the unit. This year, the event, in its third year, will help start a new Diaper Assistance Program at Huntsville Hospital for Women and Children, helping low-income patient families who need immediate assistance with diapers.

“Claws for a Cause is going to be a great day full of food, drinks and live music, but the really fun part is what it is going to benefit,” said Aaron Caradonna, chairman of the foundation’s Development Council. “The new Diaper Assistance Program will jumpstart low-income patient families who do not have access to diapers, wipes and resources, so that they can leave Huntsville Hospital with about a week’s supply of diapers, plus the information they need to get further resources in our community.”

Claws for a Cause is kid-friendly and will be a great time for the whole family. Tickets are $25, and the cost includes both entry to the event and all-you-can-eat crawfish. The event is $5 for young guests, ages 6-12. Children 5 and under eat free.

The event will be catered by local restaurant New Orleans Lunchbox, with music by Liquid Caravan.

Huntsville Hospital Foundation is a not-for-profit organization established in 1978 as the fundraising arm of Huntsville and Madison Hospitals. It works to strengthen relationships between the hospitals and the community. The foundation accepts gifts—both individual and corporate—on the hospitals’ behalf, and works to fund present and future equipment and program needs. For more information, call 256-265-8077 or visit huntsvillehospitalfoundation.org.

The foundation’s Development Council is a dynamic group of more than 50 young professionals and emerging leaders. The council supports the foundation’s mission by giving back to patients and hospital staff, as well as by raising community awareness through Claws for a Cause, its annual fundraising event.
