Monette earns induction to Army Aviation Hall of Fame

MADISON – Chief Warrant Officer 4 Robert J. Monette has received the honor of induction into the Army Aviation Hall of Fame.

Monette’s induction ceremony will be held at Gaylord Opryland Resort in Nashville on April 15.

The Army Aviation Association of America Inc. sponsors the Army Aviation Hall of Fame. The honor recognizes those individuals who have made an outstanding contribution to Army Aviation over an extended period or a truly exceptional achievement.

The Hall of Fame honors not just flying heroes but all commissioned warrant and non-commissioned officers, soldiers and civilians from government and industry who have contributed to Army Aviation. The actual Hall of Fame is located in the Army Aviation Museum at Fort Rucker. (armyaviationmagazine.com)

On entering the U.S. Army, Monette completed Basic Training at Fort Polk, La. in 1968. He served in Vietnam in 1969 to 1970 and again in 1972 to 1973. His service assignments also included time in Korea; Fort Knox, Ky.; Fort Campbell, Ky. KY; and Fort Rucker.

In 1991, he retired at the rank of Chief Warrant Officer 4 or CW-4.

The Monettes moved to Madison in 2006 from Orlando, Fla. after Computer Science Corporation or CSC recruited him for employment. .

He attended The Ohio State University and Embry Riddle Aeronautical University. Monette is Principal Member/Owner of his consultant company, Training With Technology. His hometown is Mount Vernon, Ohio.

He is married to Judith Monette, who is a retired nurse. Their daughter, Shelly Cote, attended the University of Alabama and lives in Madison.

Robert Monette is a member of Army Aviation Association of America and the North Alabama Chapter of Vietnam Helicopter Pilots Association. He also volunteers for Vietnam battlefield tours.

In his spare time, Monette works to educate local youth about Army Aviation and all possible career opportunities.
