Section Track Meet: Top 5 Advance To State Meet

MADISON- The No. 1 ranked James Clemens girl’s track team won the Class 7A Section Championship for the sixth consecutive year by almost 100 points over runner-up Huntsville. In boys, Huntsville was the winner while Bob Jones was runner-up. The meet was held at James Clemens High.

Individual performances were highlighted in boy’s action by Charles Lewis of Sparkman, Matthew Weaver of Bob Jones, Evan Brooks of Madison Academy, Jaylen Nelson of Madison Academy and Trevor Hunziker from James Clemens who each won two events. They were certainly overshadowed by Ashlee Osaji of James Clemens, a Southern Mississippi signee, who won four events in the girl’s competition.

Madison Academy took the top three medals in the Class 4A girl’s 100-meter race and James Clemens was tops in the three medals positions in the girl’s long jump to highlight individual events.

Team final scoring in boys: 1. Huntsville 142, 2. Bob Jones 126.50, 3. James Clemens 126, 4. Sparkman 101. Girls: 1. James Clemens 216.50, 3. Bob Jones 115.50, 4. Sparkman 77.

The top three finishers in each event won medals while the top five performances in each event qualified for the AHSAA State Meet in Gulf Shores.
