FLORENCE – Dozens of softball teams will converge on Florence today to participate in the Alabama High School Athletic Association’s North Regional Softball Tournament. Among them will be James Clemens and Bob Jones.

The Jets won the Class 7A Area 8 tournament last week with the Patriots finishing runner-up. They both earned a trip to the North Regional tournament today.

They will be competing for the right to advance to the AHSAA state tournament next week in Montgomery.

James Clemens will take on Huntsville today at 9 a.m., while Bob Jones will face Sparkman at the same time.

If Bob Jones and James Clemens win this morning, they would face each other again for the North Region title.

This marks the first time in years that the AHSAA’s North Regional will be held somewhere other than Huntsville.
