CHAMBER CHAT: Rubber chickens with gift cards will be tossed out during Business Expo and Kids Day

Business Expo & Kids Day 2019 Calls FOWL!

As you may know, Business Expo & Kids Day 2019 is themed Madison Depot 1869 for our city’s 150th birthday. To honor our past, we’re holding a mini reenactment of one of Madison’s most interesting historical activities. In the early 1930s, Humphreys-Hughes Drug Store would annually release chickens from the top of the building to the crowd below. People came from miles around to try and catch the birds and the merchandise coupons attached to their legs!

In that spirit, at noon on Saturday, July 27th during Business Expo & Kids Day, we’ll toss three dozen rubber chickens from high in the Madison Fire Department’s bucket with various gift cards attached to their legs – up to a $25 value! Are you ‘game’? Or are you ‘chicken’?

Come Join the Fun!
Business Expo & Kids Day will be held at the Hogan YMCA from 10am – 2pm on July 27th. Come check out the 60+ booths representing our varied local businesses at this FREE, family-friendly event. Food trucks will be on hand throughout the event. Enjoy refreshing Piper and Leaf Artisan Teas and Rita’s Italian Ice & Frozen Custard treats, as well as lunch fare from Rick’s Barbecue and Domino’s Pizza.

Kids will enjoy FREE activities include face painting, balloon animals, bounce house, games, prizes and more! Ride the trackless train around the outside attractions. Tour the HEMSI ambulance and Madison fire truck, as well as Madison Fire and Rescue’s Virtual Reality Trailer. Visit with SARTEC’s highly-trained rescue dogs. Dunk local personalities in our dunk tank! For more information, call 256-325-8317 or visit madisonalchamber.com.
