Madison Police part of federal operation in North Alabama this morning

NORTH ALABAMA – The Madison Police Department is playing a role in an operation this morning involving other law enforcement agencies in North Alabama and federal authorities.

According to Madison Police Chief David Jernigan, the department has an agent working through the STAC drug task force assisting federal authorities, including the Drug Enforcement Agency and FBI, on part of a federal law enforcement operation.

A spokesperson for the FBI confirmed that the DEA and FBI are conducting an operation in North Alabama this morning, stated newspartner WAFF.

Reports stated that as many as 40 people are in custody so far today in relation to the operation.
