The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to present Christmas Festival

HUNTSVILLE – Scores of vocal and instrumental musicians and groups of actors and planners have collaborated to present the 15th annual Christmas Festival, Concert and Live Nativity for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Guests can choose between two concert times on both Dec. 14 and 15 for the production at the church’s Huntsville Stake Center at 1804 Sparkman Drive NW in Huntsville.

Through the years, the event regularly has attracted 1,000-plus attendees. The production is a collaboration between both the Huntsville and Madison stakes of the LDS church.

The production “will celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Enjoy one of four 45-minute concerts will be performed by the Christmas Festival Choir and Orchestra,” church spokesperson Jennifer Peel said.

Guests can take a brief inspirational walk through the indoor live nativity that will feature four scenes from the nativity story. “They always have a real baby to play Baby Jesus,” Peel said. “That’s always such a sweet scene.”

After viewing the live nativity, guests can pause to reflect on a small display of beautiful nativity sets, handmade quilts and Christmas decorations.

“We love this community. This is our gift to the whole community, and we hope that they’ll come and enjoy it,” Peel said.

On each day, the musicians will perform their concert, which will last approximately 45 minutes, at 4 and 6 p.m. Hours for the live nativity will be 3:30 to 4 p.m. and again at 4:45 to 5:15 p.m. Later times for the nativity will be 5:30 to 6 p.m. and then at 6:45 to 7:15 a.m.

“So many people put so much time and effort into the festival,” Peel said. “I’m always amazed how willing people are to put in that kind of time and effort, especially this time of year.”

Organizers request guests to reserve seating in advance to confirm adequate seats for all attendees at each concert. Limited walk-in seating will be available. The church will not solicit or accept offerings.
