Decatur Police arrest Madison man for soliciting child for sex

DECATUR – The Decatur Police Department said they arrested a Madison man yesterday for sex crimes involving a minor.

Sean Tharpe, 31, of Madison was arrested Wednesday after allegedly communicating with a child for the purpose of soliciting sex, said Decatur Police.

Authorities say Tharpe was intercepted by police after traveling from Madison to Decatur for the purpose of engaging in an unlawful sex act with the child.

He was arrested and charged with traveling to meet a child for an unlawful sex act and electronic solicitation of a child.

Tharpe was transported to the Morgan County Jail, where he was booked in lieu of a $90,000.00 bond.
