Several students win in city-wide Reflections contest, advance to state level
Fifty-two awards were presented during a ceremony at Horizon Elementary School last week for the annual Reflections fine arts contest. The winners will now advance to the state level. Students were presented their award certificates by Madison Superintendent of Education Robby Parker.

Several students win in city-wide Reflections contest, advance to state level

MADISON – The paint brushes, pencils and paper, musical notes and ballet shoes now are at rest with the conclusion of the annual Reflections fine arts contest.

Reflections is an annual arts competition sponsored by the PTA.  Kids from Pre-K thru 12th grade can enter in any of the categories:  Dance Choreography, Film Production, Literature, Music Composition, Photography and Visual Arts. They used the theme, “Look Within.”

Winners were chosen at their schools in the fall and then those winners advanced to the city level PTA for judging.

Last week the city-wide winners were recognized in an awards ceremony at Horizon Elementary School. Fifty-two awards were presented at the city level, and all of these winners have also advanced to the AL State PTA for judging.

The city-wide winners are:

DANCE CHOREOGRAPHY

INTERMEDIATE: 1st – Laya Gowder, “Finding Stamina to Achieve the Greatest”, Heritage Elementary; 2nd – Rina Mori (pictured above), “Paprika (Support song for Tokyo 2020 Olympics)”, Columbia Elementary; 3rd – Harshtha Chander (pictured above), “Who we are. What we can be!” Heritage Elementary.

MIDDLE SCHOOL: 1st Oviya Gowder – “This is Me”, Liberty Middle.

FILM PRODUCTION

INTERMEDIATE: 1st – Emily Steverson, “Believe”, Mill Creek Elementary; 2nd – Arush Sharma, “I Look Around and I Look Within”, Columbia Elementary.

MIDDLE SCHOOL: 1st – Shayan Rajput “De-Forestation” Liberty Middle; 2nd – Milind Brijesh “Look Within (Middle School Life 2019)” Discovery Middle.

HIGH SCHOOL: 1st – Alec John Mothersele “A Space Beetles Guide to Self-Awareness” Bob Jones High.

LITERATURE

PRIMARY: 1st – Abby Wilson “Please Bloom” Horizon Elementary; 2nd – Embrey Lockett “Butterflies” Columbia Elementary; 3rd – Eliza Abney “Poetry” Columbia Elementary.

INTERMEDIATE: 1st – Jason Roh “The Wisdom of the Magic 8 Ball” Columbia Elementary; 2nd – Arush Sharma “Look Within” Columbia Elementary; 3rd – Rayyan Killedar “I am More” Madison Elementary.

MIDDLE SCHOOL: 1st – Leah Hudson “Look Within” Liberty Middle; 2nd – Audrey Brown “Mind Reader” Liberty Middle; 3rd – EJ Biggers “What’s On the Inside Counts” Liberty Middle.
