WEATHER ALERT – Reporting downed power lines during expected severe weather

WEATHER ALERT! US National Weather Service Huntsville Alabama is forecasting possible severe weather for the area beginning tonight through Wednesday evening. The primary threat with this system is heavy rain and damaging winds, which raises the risk for downed power lines.

Huntsville Utilities said they are monitoring the weather situation and crews are on standby to deal with any weather-related service issues.

They advise people to please remember the following:

If you see a downed line, do not approach it–treat it as if it is energized. Wet ground increases the risk of electrocution with downed lines. Stay away and call us immediately at 256-53-LIGHT (256-535-4448).

This is also the number to call to report an outage. Do not assume someone has already called.

Monitor local media for the latest on the weather situation.
