Heart of the Valley YMCA launches ‘All in Wellness Challenge’

HUNTSVILLE, MADISON – The “All In Wellness Challenge” at Heart of the Valley YMCA locations can instill a little more motivation for people to stick to their 2020 wellness goals.

YMCA members can participate in the challenge, an eight-week wellness initiative. Participants started working out in group exercise classes on Feb. 1. The premise for All In Wellness Challenge is that people can be more likely to commit to wellness goals when they are encouraged.

The prize cache for the wellness challenge includes a set of AirPods, Fitbit fitness tracker and a new SMART TV. “The All In Challenge is one way your YMCA is encouraging you to get into a healthy wellness routine and engage your branch and other members,” Mary Ann Swanstrom said. Swanstrom works as Director of Communications for Heart of the Valley YMCA.

Participants will follow a few steps for the All in Wellness Challenge:

* Workout cards — At a YMCA branch’s Member Services Desk, ask for a workout card every week. After completing the class or exercise, ask the class instructor to initial a box on the card. You will receive one card per workout and earn up to five points.

You must take workouts and classes at the same branch. Turn one card in each week and pick up a new one for the next week. Cards will be available until March 27.

* Weekly prizes — The staff will hold a prize drawing each week. Participants who have submitted a workout card with a minimum of three points for that week will be eligible for the drawing for a weekly prize. If individuals keep participating, they have a chance to win a weekly prize. Weekly prizes include AirPods, Fitbits, Keurig coffeemakers, Instant Pots, restaurant gift cards and more merchandise. Each YMCA branch has a complete list of ‘All In’ prizes.

* Grand prize — The grand prize will go to the participant with the highest number of total points at the end of the challenge period on March 27. In the event of a tie, a final drawing will determine the grand prize winner.
