Severe weather, including tornadoes, damaging winds and large hail, expected Sunday

The US National Weather Service in Huntsville says severe weather and flash flooding are significant threats on Sunday into Sunday night.

Severe thunderstorms are expected to develop and move into the area Sunday afternoon and evening. All modes of severe weather are quite possible, including tornadoes, damaging winds and large hail.

Multiple periods of thunderstorms with heavy rain are expected from late Saturday night through Sunday night. As a result, excessive rainfall is likely, which will elevate the threat of flash flooding. Total rainfall of 2 to 3 inches is expected with amounts up to 4 inches possible in some areas.

Severe weather risks, impacts and timing are subject to change, so please keep checking updated outlooks and forecasts.
