Runners taking County Line State of Mind 10K 5K on June 19

MADISON – The County Line State Of Mind 10K 5K and Base Fun Run will leave the starting line on James Clemens High School campus, proceed south on County Line Road and return to campus for the finish.

The City of Madison’s sponsorship, powered by JC Jets Baseball, will present the inaugural running of County Line State of Mind on June 19. Participants can receive information envelopes at the Christina Smith – State Farm Packet Pickup on June 18 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the JetsPlex.

The 10K will start at 7 a.m., followed by the 5K at 7:15 a.m. at the JetsPlex baseball field. The race route will be closed to all traffic between 7 and 9 a.m., with streets progressively opening by following the last runner. At 9 a.m., traffic will return to all route streets.

After the Fun Run, runners will receive their prizes at the JC FleetFeet Awards Ceremony in the JetsPlex. Officials will award individuals in each age group, along with the Top Male and Top Female entrants.

Runners cannot register on race day. In addition, limited entries may be available at packet pickup.

Currently, more than 200 runners have registered. “We will have great viewing spots along the route for people to cheer on runners,” spokesperson Kristen Kulavich said.

All registrations previously accepted by the race’s online registration system from postponement dates automatically will roll to the new 2021 race date, Kulavich said.

Registration is open. To register, visit runsignup.com and click “Find a Race” on the top right of the page. On the “Upcoming Races in Top Cities” page, scroll to the bottom and type “Madison” and select “Alabama” in the list. On the next page, select “County Line State of Mind 10K & 5K” in the list. Complete the registration form that then displays.

Participants who register by June 1 are guaranteed to receive a race T-shirt.

Sponsorships for the event are open until June 1. To-date, sponsors include SpineCare Start/Finish Line; Christina Smith – State Farm Packet Pickup; FleetFeet Awards Ceremony; All Things Madison; Nesin Therapy Services; Madison Chamber of Commerce; and Redstone Federal Credit Union.

Runners will have a two-hour time limit to complete the 10K race. After two hours, runners either must move to the sidewalk or ride in the race vehicle at the end of the race.

Participants will have a one-hour time limit to complete the 5K race. After one hour, the same guidelines apply about leaving the course.

“Be the first! Set the records for the inaugural run of County Line State of Mind 10K 5K,” Kulavich said.
