Mandy Leigh’s daughters inspired company, Two Girls and a Reading Corner

MADISON – Mandy Leigh was inspired to establish a publishing company after working with her daughters to co-author a children’s book.

Her company, Two Girls and a Reading Corner, “is a small independent publishing company that started out with a mom (me) and her two younger daughters, Alexandra Grace and Brynlea Hope,” Mandy said about their collaboration. The company is named after the girls and their dedicated space in their home for reading. In that space, they have delivered live readings of their books, along with support of other authors.

Their first published book was “If the Green Grass Was Jell-O.” The girls “both have gotten older now . . . Brynlea Hope is starting middle school, and Alexandra Grace is in her second year of high school. The business is changing,” Mandy said.

“They no longer want to participate in the readings, but they are designing planners and journals, just in time for back to school,” Mandy said. “They have created logos for themselves, and we all have been designing. The sales from their work go directly to them.”

One author associated with Two Girls and a Reading Corner is Jennifer Lee Corley, a kindergarten teacher at Midtown Elementary School. Corley recently released her second book, “Do Superheroes Go to School?” Corley’s debut book was “Do Superheroes Brush Their Teeth?,” which shows the ‘super’ characters engaged in the tasks of their daily routines.

“We are very excited with all the possibilities that these superheroes will take us on,” Mandy said.

Mandy has been working as an independent ESL contractor (English as a Second Language) for two years. “I am able to work from home and teach from an online platform,” she said. Currently, Mandy is teaching children in China and Turkey.

All the company’s 36 titles, along with new releases of the Leighs’ journals and books, are available on Amazon and their website twogirlsandareadingcorner.com. Their mailing address is Two Girls and a Reading Corner, P.O. Box 2404, Madison, AL 35758.
