Pitts and Mason Of Bob Jones Sign Track Scholarships

MADISON- Two recent graduates of Bob Jones High signed college scholarships to continue their athletic endeavors at the next level. Tyler Pitts signed with Alabama A&M and Demarrius Mason put his name on an athletic scholarship to attend the University of Mobile. Both are track athlete signees.

Pitts had an outstanding senior campaign for the Patriots capturing the Class 7A 60-meter hurdles title at the AHSAA Indoor Track State Championships. He also posted outstanding performances in the outdoor State Meet with second place finishes in both the 110-meter and 300-meter hurdles. He also participated in the 100, 200 and 400 and all team sprint relays.

Pitts chose Alabama A&M over South Alabama, Mississippi College, UAH, Kennesaw State and the University of North Carolina-Charlotte. He finished Bob Jones with a 3.07 grade point average and will major in Business Management.

Mason was a two-sport athlete for the Patriots. He was a four-year performer as a defensive lineman for the Bob Jones football and a field event athlete in track. He was known as a leader both on and off the field in each sport.

Mason concentrated his track and field efforts in the shot put, discus and javelin. He worked extremely hard to perfect his craft in each event and caught the eye of the coaching staff of the University of Mobile because of his great technique and tenacity. He looks to excel in the throwing events, including the hammer throw, in college. He finished high school with a 3.0 grade point average and looks to earn a degree in Criminology.

Both were coached by Brad Jefferson, head coach of the track program at Bob Jones.
