Number of patients with COVID at Madison Hospital nearly doubles in one week

MADISON – COVID is certain on the rise in Madison now. The number of COVID patients at Madison Hospital has almost doubled in one week.

In the latest numbers released by Huntsville Hospital (HH), 218 patients have COVID throughout their system — up from 143 a week ago. Fifty-nine of those are in ICU with 25 on ventilators. This includes hospitals in Madison, Limestone, Morgan, Colbert and Franklin counties.

In Madison County alone, there are 122 patients with COVID at HH facilities, with 30 of those at Madison Hospital where six are in ICU and one is on a ventilator. A little over week ago, Madison Hospital reported 16 COVID patients with five in ICU. That number rose last week to 19 by the weekend and has steady been climbing this week.

Right now, there are 29 patients in ICU throughout Madison County, up from 18 last Friday, with 14 on ventilators — double from last week.

Due to the rising number of patients with COVID-19 in the hospital, Huntsville Hospital announced today they are now restricting visitation. Click the link for details. https://bit.ly/36Yj4bu
