Madison County Probate Court to briefly suspend limited areas of operation for software transition

HUNTSVILLEThe Probate Court of Madison County will suspend limited areas of operation on Friday, October 29. According to a press release from the court, the brief pause is necessary as the court transitions to new recording and case management software.

The following Probate Court operations will be affected on Friday:

  • Passport applications will not be accepted
  • Document recording and court case processing will be suspended
  • Notary applicants are encouraged to apply before or after October 29
  • Persons filing a marriage affidavit are encouraged to do so before or after October 29

All law enforcement agencies, hospital systems, local attorneys, and legal professionals will be able to interact with the Court during this brief suspension of limited services to address issues related to mental health, emergency matters, and other critical transactions. The Probate Court will resume full operation on Monday, November 1.

“This software transition will complete the most significant phase of strategic work to improve documents recording and online access to records,” said Madison County Probate Judge Barger, “Moving from a deficient and dated software platform to a custom-built system for documents recording and court case management will position us to better serve not only legal professionals, but the community at-large.”
