Kris Kringle Market assembles decorating, gift ideas for shoppers

MADISON – Shoppers can find whimsical and well-crafted goods at Kris Kringle Market 2021 on Nov. 20.

The market will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Discovery Middle School gym. The Kris Kringle Market attracts interesting crafts-makers and skilled artisans to sell their pleasing designs. Admission is free to the market.

The event’s name pays homage to the centuries-old tradition of holidays in Old World Europe, specifically the decoration and customs of Germany. Those nostalgic themes combine with Madison’s local charm to produce the Kris Kringle Market.

With its new theme, “Welcome Home to Madison,” the market intends to bring a more ‘down home’ feel, according to MAC President Tina Clark.

The fair will feature crafters, artists, food, music and, of course, Santa Claus. “We’ll also have lantern-making and craft workshops for children so parents can shop,” Clark said.

Kris Kringle Market supporters are City of Madison, Madison Parks and Recreation Department and Madison City Schools.

Visual art in numerous genres will be sold, along with pottery and wood crafts. Books, aromatic candles and paper goods will tempt shoppers. Moms and grandmoms likely will be interested in children’s merchandise, clothing and crochet pieces.

Food and baked goods will entice guests to try the creations. Other items at the market will be home goods, jewelry, leather goods, soaps and lotions.

Vendors can donate items to shopper grab bags, available to the first 100 shoppers who visit the market.

Vendors will set up their booths from 6 to 8:45 a.m. Booth size is 10 by 10 feet. Vendors will pay $60 for a booth, with an additional $10 if they use electricity .

Organizers thanked MCS Superintendent Dr. Ed Nichols for his help in securing the Discovery gym.
