Bob Jones students test KTECH Virtual Reality Academy from Kids to Love

MADISON – This fall, Kids to Love launched a new program, their Virtual Reality or VR Academy, and the first users of the technology are seniors in the Engineering Academy at Bob Jones High School.

Kids to Love developed KTECH as a workforce training initiative, which has established itself as a leader in Alabama’s advanced manufacturing industry.

“As a newly licensed private school in the state and 2021 winner of the Alabama Automotive Manufacturer’s Association Service Provider of the Year award, KTECH is innovating education to widen career paths for its students and to serve the community,” Julie Reyburn said. Reyburn is Communications Director for Kids to Love.

Incorporated in 2004, the Kids to Love Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, has reached more than 275,000 foster children and helped them to find forever families. Lee Marshall is Founder and CEO of Kids to Love.

On Nov. 10, KTECH staff and Bob Jones engineering students met at the KTECH campus at 140 Castle Drive in Madison. They demonstrated their work in the Beta VR class to Madison City Schools Superintendent Dr. Ed Nichols, Bob Jones Principal Sylvia Lambert, Engineering Academy Coordinator Jessye Gaines and Madison Board of Education members.

“KTECH staff developed a Beta class in Virtual Reality with the intention of promoting long-term success for the program,” KTECH Recruitment Specialist Robin Dauma said. “Five students from Bob Jones Engineering Academy took part and showcased what they have learned through this breakthrough curriculum. Their study will qualify them for intern-level opportunities with companies like Transfer VR, an international leader in VR training technology.”

KTECH is a private school licensed by the Alabama Community College System. KTECH offers interactive instruction for students to earn up to four certifications in the fields of robotics, soldering, Solid Edge modeling and design software and Mechatronics, which is a multidisciplinary field for skill sets in automated manufacturing to create simpler, smarter systems.
