Engineering interns at Bob Jones gain experience by working at local companies

MADISON – While still in high school, students enrolled in an Engineering Academy course at Bob Jones High School have experienced first-hand about the office environment for jobs in their career path.

The course is “Engineering Internship: Research and Design with Senior Career Pathway Project.” With Jessye Gaines as teacher, this class is the final level of Bob Jones Engineering Academy and combines all skills that students acquired in prerequisite courses.

Engineering Internship students will deliver their final presentations about their experiences on Dec. 14-15 at 2 p.m. at Bob Jones in Patriot Hall. Gaines has invited participating business leaders and residents to hear the students’ final presentations.

“The students have just completed their 12 weeks with local engineering companies, and we could not be more proud” (of their accomplishments),” Gaines said. “This has been our first semester for students to complete a full semester of in-person internships since fall 2019,” Gaines said.
