Schools to dismiss early on Thursday due to weather threat

Schools in Madison will let out early on Thursday. The National Weather Service forecast for Thursday, Feb. 17, calls for strong to severe storms in the late afternoon that could include very high winds and possible tornado activity.

“The NWS weather briefing this afternoon increased the forecast to an “Enhanced Risk” with an anticipated arrival around our normal school dismissal time,” said MCS Superintendent Dr. Ed Nichols. “In an abundance of caution, Madison City Schools will dismiss schools early tomorrow at the following times:
PreK at 12:30 p.m.; elementary schools at 1:00 p.m.; and middle and high schools at 1:45 p.m. Bus routes will be adjusted accordingly.”

All after school activities will be canceled for Thursday.
