Youth can show art inclinations with Madison Hospital Art Contest

MADISON – A broken leg. A fever that’s way too high. A new baby sister who is cute and coming home with you.

These and countless other scenarios demonstrate the care that residents, especially children, have received at Madison Hospital. Currently, older children have a chance to show their appreciation for Madison Hospital by entering its Art Contest, part of the MyHospital campaign.

The contest will celebrate the 10th anniversary of the facility and its skilled workforce. Children who are in grades 6, 7 and 8, along with art-class and individual students, can enter the contest. The contest limits entries to one piece of artwork per student.

Madison Hospital has cared for the City of Madison for 10 years, President Mary Lynne Wright said. She has worked for the Madison location even before the hospital opened.

“Join us in this celebration by portraying how the hospital has helped your friends, family or community through a drawing or painting,” Wright said. “These submissions will enter into a social media contest, and the winner will be announced on Feb. 28, 2022.”

“Madison Hospital serves all ages and stages. We thought this artwork challenge would be a great way to get our schools and students involved in our MyHospital 10th anniversary celebration,” Wright said.

“Many of these kids do not know a day without Madison Hospital, and we are excited for their take on how the hospital has helped their friends, family and community. We hope everyone will then join the fun by voting for the winner on Madison Hospital’s Facebook page and help us choose which beautiful piece will hang in the hospital for the rest of our milestone year,” Wright said.

For a drawing or painting, contestants must use a piece of paper or cardstock that measures 8.5 by 11 inches. On the artwork’s back side, print the student’s first and last name, grade level at school and the school’s name.

Contest volunteers will collect all drawings and paintings by Feb. 18. Voting by social media will be open Feb. 21 to Feb. 25 at Facebook.com/MadisonHospitalFan. “The contest winner will be announced Feb. 28 – the birthday of Madison Hospital,” Wright said.

As thank-you gestures to the grand prize winner, winning artwork will hang in Madison Hospital for the remainder of 2022, will be featured on Madison Hospital’s Facebook page and will be shared with local media (with artist/family approval).
